The Operating System for Animal Breeding & Genetics

PedigreX Privacy Policy

Last Updated: January 2026
Status: In Development

PedigreX ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy while building software that respects the realities of animal breeding, competition, and record-keeping.

This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how it is used, how it is protected, and what choices you have.

1. What PedigreX Is (and Is Not)

PedigreX is an animal record management system, not a social network, marketplace, or data broker.

  • We do not sell user data
  • We do not sell animal data
  • We do not monetize personal information
  • We do not store scanned documents long-term
  • We do not track or store medical or veterinary health data

Our goal is to reduce paperwork—not create new privacy risks.

2. Information We Collect

A. User Account Information

We collect only what is necessary to operate your account:

  • Name (or display name)
  • Email address
  • Account credentials
  • Subscription status

This information is never attached to animals or pedigrees.

B. Animal Information (Non-Personal)

PedigreX stores animal-related data only, including:

  • Animal name
  • Species and breed
  • Color and markings
  • Sex and reproductive status
  • Registration numbers
  • Titles and awards
  • Pedigree relationships (sire, dam, offspring)
  • Competition history
  • Breeding records

⚠️ Important:

Animals in PedigreX do not contain personal contact information. No addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, or account-linked identities are exposed through animal profiles or pedigrees.

C. Document Uploads & OCR Processing

PedigreX allows users to upload documents (e.g., registration papers) for OCR processing only.

  • Uploaded images are used temporarily
  • OCR text is extracted into structured fields
  • Original images are not stored
  • Images are deleted immediately after processing

We do not retain copies of scanned paperwork.

3. Shared Pedigree Data (Future Feature)

As PedigreX grows, we intend to support a shared pedigree database to reduce duplicate data entry.

This means:

  • If User A enters an animal
  • And User B enters that animal's offspring
  • The pedigree may auto-populate common ancestors

What is shared:

  • Animal name
  • Breed
  • Color
  • Titles
  • Registration numbers
  • Pedigree relationships

What is never shared:

  • User identity
  • Contact information
  • Ownership history
  • Breeding notes
  • Private records

Pedigrees remain animal-centric, not owner-centric.

4. Subscription Changes

If a user downgrades from a paid plan to a free plan:

  • Existing animal, breeding, pedigree, and competition records remain accessible
  • Records become read-only
  • No new records can be added
  • No existing records can be edited

We do not delete user-entered records due to subscription changes.

5. How We Use Data

We use collected data to:

  • Operate and improve PedigreX
  • Provide core app functionality
  • Populate pedigrees accurately
  • Prevent data duplication
  • Maintain system integrity

We do not:

  • Sell data
  • Rent data
  • Share data with advertisers
  • Train third-party AI models on user data

6. Data Security

PedigreX is built with security as a first-class concern.

  • Encrypted connections
  • Role-based access controls
  • Limited internal access
  • Minimal data retention
  • No stored document images

We design PedigreX under the assumption that animal records are valuable and sensitive, even when they are not legally personal data.

7. Third-Party Services

We may use trusted infrastructure providers (hosting, analytics, payment processing) strictly to operate the service.

These providers:

  • Do not receive animal pedigree data beyond what is required
  • Are contractually restricted from using data for unrelated purposes

8. Your Rights & Control

You may:

  • View your data at any time
  • Edit your data (subject to subscription tier)
  • Export your records
  • Delete your account

Account deletion removes:

  • Your user account
  • Your private notes

Shared pedigree data may remain anonymized to preserve lineage integrity.

9. Children's Privacy

PedigreX is not intended for use by children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

As PedigreX evolves, this Privacy Policy may be updated.

We will:

  • Update the "Last Updated" date
  • Notify users of material changes
  • Never retroactively sell or exploit existing data

Founder Note

PedigreX was built by breeders and technologists who understand how easily animal records can be misused. We designed this system to reduce risk, not introduce it.
